Tisha Summers wrote this this collection of poems from her perspective as an Indigenous Woman. It highlights the struggles, pain, and obstacles that she lived through.
She utilized her storytelling through poetry in a raw and real insight of intergenerational trauma, colonization, mental health, abuse, and the process of healing.
“Dark, Deep and cold
I look up and see a glimmer of light.
Climbing and climbing I can’t get out.
Darkness surrounds me, hard to see.
Filled up with anger but can’t express it.
Numb to the touch. I don’t care anymore,
I must feel the pain, to know that I am alive.
Is this my life?
Dark and cold, No real love or soul
Where do I turn?”
